Guided tour of the geology and botany of Aurlandsdalen
Have you ever hiked in Aurlandsdalen and wondered about the rock types and everything that grows in the valley?
Geologist Maiken from the World Heritage Park and botanist Jakub invite you to a guided tour through Aurlandsdalen on Sunday, August 23, where you will get the answer to just this!
On the tour you will get an introduction to the rock types, how the valley is shaped by ice and water, potholes, botany and how plant life changes in step with the bedrock. We also look at mass events that testify to a dynamic landscape, and at species that are unique to the valley.
There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions, and you are guaranteed to gain new knowledge along the way. This is not a trip for those who want to set a speed record down the valley, but for those who are curious and want to take their time.
We hope you will join us!
Practical information:
Theme: The geology and botany of Aurlandsdalen
Bring: Plenty of lunch, good hiking shoes, a seat pad and clothing for the weather.
The tour is conducted in both Norwegian and English. We will help with translation along the way if anything is difficult to understand.

We expect to spend 9–10 hours, including many stops related to outreach and some longer breaks for lunch.
Number of seats: 15

Introduction to photography of nature and culture with Gunnar Bergo
Join a guided tour around Stalheim with photographer Gunnar Bergo and get an introduction to photography of nature and culture in Nærøydalen!
The area around Stalheim has been used for many years for nature photography and as a motif in famous paintings. The plunging waterfalls, high mountains and the spectacular Stalheimskleiva have long captured the attention of photographers and artists.
This year's World Heritage Tour in Voss County will be held at Stalheim, where the theme of the tour is an introduction to photography of nature and culture in the World Heritage area. From Stalheim you have a beautiful view down into Nærøydalen, where, among other things, Jordalsnuten was the starting point for the famous painting "From Stalheim" by JC Dahl. Gunnar Bergo, a well-known nature photographer from the area, will share tips and tricks on the tour on how to capture the atmosphere of the landscape.
The tour starts with a meeting at Stalheim. We take the trip down Stalheimskleiva, where we get a magnificent view of the waterfalls. The tour goes through various famous viewpoints, where we work with photography and how to capture the magic of Nærøydalen. We use Stalheim hotel as a base, where there will be the opportunity to buy lunch or move indoors if the weather allows for rainy and atmospheric photos.

IMPORTANT! THIS TOUR HAS BEEN POSTPONED! "From farm road to hiking trail?" Guided tour in Fresvikåsen - about changes in the use of a landscape
THIS TOUR HAS BEEN POSTPONED - NEW DATE COMING!
Join us on a hike in beautiful Fresvikåsen, the Skard - Lægdaskard - Fysseholten/Trollgisholten section!
Fresvikåsen, with its great natural and cultural values, has been highly valued and used by residents and farmers in the area for generations.
The area has over time become more and more popular as a tourist destination for many, not least travelers from home and abroad. Changes in the use of a landscape often lead to challenges for both the landscape, animal and bird life, and for the people in the area, and to conflicts. On the trip we will reflect on these challenges and possible solutions. History, natural and cultural values, the development of the area into a tourist destination, changes in the tourist area today, etc. will also be topics.
The hike starts from Skard, where we first follow an old farm road. We walk steadily uphill through the forest and up into the steep mountains, to the traditional hiking destination Lægdaskard. From here we have a great view of the Sognefjord, Fimreiteåsen and the mighty Hurrungane. We then follow a footpath down to another hiking destination, the long-defunct farm at Fysseholten / Trollgislholten. Here we treat ourselves to a walk out to the viewpoint over the Aurlandsfjord and the fjord meeting with the Sognefjord. The return hike goes down through a fine pine forest back to Skard.
The guide on the trip is biologist Siri Wølneberg Bøthun.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Duration approx. 5 hours incl. breaks

Course in grant application
Welcome to the day and evening course in applying for grants on February 14th in Aurland !
Every year, 70 billion is distributed to municipalities, businesses and voluntary organizations! And we want a larger share of the pie to be allocated to projects in Aurland municipality!
Aurland The municipality is organizing a course in applying for grants with Anders A. Vik on February 14. The course is free and open to everyone!
Course leader Anders A. Vik has expertise in the grant scheme, and has since 2006 held courses for over 180 municipalities and organizations throughout the country. With his creative focus, he thinks unconventionally, both in the application itself and where one can apply for funds from. He is known for his light and creative tone and form. He has himself been used in writing applications for various municipalities and organizations. We look forward to your visit and inspiring courses in Aurland .
On the course, you will, among other things, learn more about how to find your way through the subsidy jungle, how to think new and outside the A4 box. How to get access to other people's applications and a bit about international grant schemes.
By the way, are you aware that in Norway alone there are 6,245 foundations that give away gifts worth NOK 6 billion?
Two courses are organised:
12.00-15.30 is especially aimed at municipal units, businesses, food producers, tourism ventures and everyone else!
At 18.00-20.30 is especially aimed at voluntary teams and organisations, businesses, sports teams, choirs and music teams, and everyone else!
