On the course you will learn practical maintenance and repair of old windows: Dismantling, removal of old putty, restoration of hinges and fittings, cutting of glass, surface treatment, reconstruction. You also get an insight into the restoration of wood.
The course object is the window in the old schoolhouse in Borgund, (vis a vis Nærbutikken). The house will be restored through courses and opened as a wooden bakery next year. It is nice if the course participants bring their own travel bags, if one has them. A list of current travel pairs will be sent out before the course.
There will be a social evening at the pub in Borgund on Saturday evening, for those who want to join in.
NB: The course is free, as there is no opportunity to bring your own window for restoration on this course, and includes food and drink during the course days. Possibly participants must pay for accommodation themselves.
Instructor: Anders Slinning, 28 years old, lives in Sogndalsdalen. He has a background from Ornes Båtbyggeri and has set up his own carpentry company which is co-located with Solvorn Laft og Bygg. He has experience with restoration of old windows, eg from Stedje church in Sogndal and the Munthe house in Luster.
