Norway's world heritage

The heritage site in Norway consists of 8 towns. One of the sites - Vestnorsk Fjordlandskap, covers an area that includes three counties and six municipalities. The first Norwegian sites to be inscribed on the list were Bryggen in Bergen and Urnes Stave Church, both in 1979. The last were Rjukan and Notodden in 2015. Several Norwegian cities are also being considered for the tentative list.

  • Bryggen in Bergen, 1979

  • Urnes Stave Church, 1979

  • Rock art in Alta, 1985 

  • Bergstaden Røros (1980), the area around the mountain town also known as Circumferensen was inscribed in 2010.

  • Vegaøyan, 2004

  • Western Norwegian Fjord Landscape, with the Geirangerfjord sub-area and Nærøyfjorden , 2005

  • Struves Meridanbue, 2005
