GUIDED TOUR TO BLÅSKAVLEN

Lunch break, with a view of the glacier.

This year's guided tour in the world heritage municipality Aurland was held on Sunday, August 24. In glorious weather, 20 people participated in a geology trip to Blåskavlen.

The trip was arranged by geologist Maiken, who works in the World Heritage Park, and acted as guide and facilitator. She has written her master's thesis on the development of the glacier after the last ice age, and presented exciting results from this work.

The area in front of Blåskavlen is covered by various deposits, which indicate that the glacier has previously had a larger spread. Both moraines, deposits from glacial rivers and large blocks were presented as examples of how the glacier advances.

The participants got a good taste of what it's like to be a researcher in Quaternary geology, while the mountain showed itself from its best side in beautiful weather.

The park thanks the participants for a great day out!
