Aurland Village Walk with a Fjord Ranger
See the village through the eyes of those who take care of it.
This summer you can join an easy hike through Aurland center together with a local Fjord Ranger from Nærøyfjorden World Heritage Park, and gain insight into the landscape, history and life by the fjord.
What is a Fjord Ranger?
A Fjord Ranger works in the World Heritage Park to preserve the landscape through practical work, collaboration with the local community and communication to visitors. In short, they know the area better than most.
About the hike
This is not a traditional guided tour. It is a simple walk through Aurland center together with a local Fjord Ranger, where you will gain insight into:
how the landscape was shaped
What the village looked like before
How do people make a living here today?
how natural resources have been used and adapted throughout history
Along the way, you'll hear stories, explanations, and local perspectives you won't find in a guidebook.
After the walk, you are invited into Heradshuset where you can explore the world heritage exhibition and Vinjum Gallery on your own.
