Summary Park Meeting 2026
On Tuesday, March 24, Nærøyfjorden World Heritage Park held its annual meeting, Park Meeting. This year, the meeting was held in Jordalen village hall, where nearly 40 participants took the trip up the exciting road.
The meeting started with a delicious lunch with local cheeses, apple juice from SJH and freshly baked rolls from Marianne's bakery.
Deputy Chairman of the Board, Bjørn Vike , opened the park meeting and spoke about positive attitudes towards the world heritage park and good momentum in the work.
Gry summarized last year and shared insights into exciting projects, as well as how she has worked to continue operating the park during a time of economic turmoil.
Furthermore, Gro, Bengt Erlend and Maiken presented their projects , and gave an insight into what the year will be filled with – both big and small. World Heritage exhibition, Fjord Ranger, environmental patrol, signage, geology days and FJORD//FORSK are some of the projects that are being planned.
Mandatory board elections were also held.
For lunch, soup with focaccia from Marianne's was served.
Hildegunn Opdal, project manager for the Nordhordland UNESCO Biosphere Reserve , explained what a biosphere reserve is. She also presented the preliminary project for the UNESCO route Vestland.
Gunnar Bergo, researcher and environmental manager , showed a film with beautiful footage from all seasons in Voss district, his part of the World Heritage Landscape. He also presented pictures and shared his own observations of changes in wildlife and biodiversity.
Guri Bugge from the organization KVANN and the rector of SJH, Børre Solberg , spoke about the work of mapping the history of the useful plant angelica. They highlighted that Vossa angelica is the only species in Norway that has not been imported, and asked whether it can again be used in the development of new and exciting products.
The park meeting concluded with a presentation of proposals for a new partnership arrangement, followed by a workshop and discussion .
