How has the landscape around us changed – and what can old and new images tell us about the past, present and future?
Landscape geographer and photographer Oskar Puschmann, known for his extensive work with rephotography in Selected Cultural Landscapes, showcases unique before and after images that reveal both large and small changes in Norwegian cultural landscapes.
Through re-photographing older photos, traces of hunting and fishing, active agriculture or regrowth are documented. One can easily see how the landscape has been shaped by nature, the farmer and society over time. The lecture provides a fascinating insight into what we are losing, what we are preserving, and how innovation in the landscape will shape our future.
Some pairs of images are from the Western Norwegian Fjord Landscape World Heritage Area – and there will be more! Maybe you have one or more images that you would like to share? Preferably with people and livestock working in the landscape. Nærøyfjorden and Nærøydalen from Undredal to Stalheim will be rephotographed and Puschmann is looking for good pictures from the period between 1990-2005. Please show them to us after the lecture, so they may be included in the rephotographing work next year. You can also send pictures.
Welcome to an educational and visual lecture for anyone interested in nature, agriculture, history and local communities.
