Hiking and value creation

In the spring of 2016, Nærøyfjorden world heritage park after two new project leaders within the new initiative "hiking and value creation". This is a 3-year project with the goal of increasing hiking and value creation in the world heritage park in general and in Aurlandsdalen in particular.
One project manager position went to Snædís Laufey Bjarnadóttir, where she has Aurlandsdalen as her special area, and works closely with the newly established working and steering group for Aurlandsdalen, "New Aurlandsdalen". In the other project manager position, we find Bengt Erlend Skjerdal, who will try to stay informed about the rest of the areas that lie within the world heritage park. This half year has spent much of the time exploring and assessing the status of various hiking trails, the infrastructure around them, and involving partners.
What is the value of walking for you? Have you ever thought about it?
The connection between hiking and value creation can be so many things, and you can interpret it as you like. Hiking is a concept that most people are familiar with. You can hike wherever you want, as far as you want and when you want. But what does value creation have to do with this? In the world park, we will plan and ensure the implementation of maintenance and signage of hiking trails, as well as be a driver and support for increased marketing, development and use of our beautiful western Norwegian landscape. This is how we see value creation being linked to hiking. This is something we look forward to working on in the years to come.
Through project management in the world heritage park, we have experienced good cooperation with volunteer groups and hiking groups, as well as representatives of landowners, businesses and conservation area management. This is, and will be, important for our further work with hiking and value creation. We have exciting things going on!.
