The World Heritage List consists of natural and cultural heritage with outstanding universal value.
– Norway has a great and important responsibility to secure our world heritage for posterity. Every day, people in world heritage areas contribute to preserving these values for future generations, says National Heritage Commissioner Hanna Geiran in the press release.
The grants that the 8 World Heritage Sites receive allow them to be preserved. There is a lot of good work being done every day in these areas, and support is crucial to being able to continue this work.
Close cooperation and good contact with county municipalities and World Heritage sites is also crucial when the Ministry of Cultural Heritage follows up on obligations for the implementation of the World Heritage Convention in Norway.
Western Norwegian Fjord Landscape, sub-area Nærøyfjorden receives NOK 4.5 million from a total pot of NOK 56.8 million.
