On 24 April, Minister Espen Barth Eide opened the exhibition "Our World Heritage" at Vega.

- The exhibition "Our world heritage" is the result of a big joint effort. It tells the story of both Norwegian and global world heritage, and is a unique venture also in an international context, says Director Liv Astrid Sverdrup of Norway's World Heritage.

The exhibition "Our World Heritage" has been developed by Norway's World Heritage and National Antiquities, on the initiative of the Ministry of Climate and Environment. It is interactive, multilingual and with a unique visual expression, where images and films move over the installations in the room.

It is an ambition that all eight Norwegian World Heritage areas will have a corresponding exhibition. The exhibition is provisionally established in Vega and in Alta, and under construction in Geiranger. The opening at Vega was the official opening of the concept. One aim of the exhibition is to contribute to an understanding of world heritage across cultures and national borders and to create commitment to taking care of world heritage.

- This is a big investment, and I am thrilled with the result. One of the most important things we do to protect world heritage is to spread knowledge about it. We are also committed to this as a party to the World Heritage Commission. With this exhibition, we are giving more people the opportunity to experience the world heritage sites, understand their significance and get involved in the work to protect them, says Eide.
