Contribution to cultural heritage on the World Heritage List – Western Norwegian Fjord Landscape – sub-area Nærøyfjorden
This is a grant scheme for private individuals and foundations that own and manage cultural heritage in the Western Norwegian fjord landscape - sub-area. Nærøyfjorden .
The grant scheme will help fulfill Norway's obligation under the UNESCO World Heritage Convention and ensure that the World Heritage sites develop as beacons for best practice in natural and cultural environment management in terms of condition, management and formal protection.
Who can get a subsidy?
County councils, municipalities, museums, organizations, companies and private individuals can apply for grants from the scheme.
What measures can receive funding?
Measures that contribute to achieving the goal of the subsidy scheme may receive subsidies.
Projects and measures related to areas in Norway that are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, with associated buffer zones, may receive funding. In special cases, projects and measures in areas that are listed on Norway's tentative list may receive funding.
We emphasize this when awarding:
goals and priorities in the management plan for the world heritage site with associated action plan
capacity, expertise and other funding to implement the measure
measures and projects that contribute to the preservation of the outstanding universal values defined in the inscription document through restoration and sustainable use
measures and projects that strengthen the management of world heritage
initiatives and projects that stimulate local engagement and ownership
initiatives and projects that contribute to communicating world heritage values and knowledge about world heritage in general
initiatives and projects that promote expertise in craft techniques, restoration, maintenance and traditional use
measures and projects that contribute to sustainable tourism and business activities that strengthen world heritage values
initiatives and projects that contribute to research and new knowledge about world heritage
measures and projects that contribute to risk management, such as fire protection and emergency preparedness to secure world heritage against unwanted climate, natural and environmental impacts
In special cases, the Ministry of National Heritage and the regional administration may have their own initiatives based on national strategies for world heritage.
