Welcome to inspirational days about modern stable management, care of the cultural landscape and restoration, reuse and new construction of stables.
Livestock farming and the use of open pastures have been a central part of Norwegian agriculture for several thousand years. Around 1950, there were 22,000 farms in Norway with livestock farming, today the number has been reduced to around 700, of which 81 are in Vestland. This decline - together with climate change, land pressure, etc. - threatens the natural, cultural and landscape values associated with our livestock areas. At the same time, the use of open pasture resources is seen as part of emergency preparedness and continued operation is relevant for many reasons.
The Støls Festival is part of the celebration of the Cultural Heritage Days 2026, which this year emphasizes "Cultural Heritage at Risk".
Sunday, August 23rd - Stølen Veskre in Bordalen
We invite you to a tour of the Veskre farm, where Aud Torild Jensen runs an active operation, supplying milk to the dairy and processing.
