Geology Days with the World Heritage Park 2026!

Over the past few weeks, geologist Maiken has conducted twelve geology days for schools and kindergartens in the World Heritage municipalities.

As learning arenas, we have used, among other things, the glacial deposits at Ljøsne and Lærdalsøyri, the moraine at Haugen, the river in Flåm, the terraces in Vik, the Flaum River in Fresvik, the landscape in Nærøydalen, the museum at Stalheim and Aurlandsvangen.

In the kindergartens, the theme has been "Stone as a resource." The children have learned about different types of rocks, what stones can be used for, and they have transformed stones into beautiful works of art.

For the schools, "Landscape Formation" has been the focus. Here, the students have learned about glaciers, fjords and the ice age, how rivers sort loose material, and what characterizes a valley.

In total, 192 children have been offered the opportunity to participate in the geology days – something we think is incredibly fun!

The World Heritage Park thanks the schools, kindergartens and all other contributors for their good cooperation. Thank you very much!
