Opening of exhibition in the school building on Bakka
The old schoolhouse on Bakka has been given a new lease of life. It is now filled with an exhibition about the people who live and have lived in the area, and we are proud to be able to show part one of this exhibition. This is the result of good cooperation between the municipality, the village council, the conservation area management and Nærøyfjorden World Heritage Park.
This small building contains the heart of the village Bakka . Here the children have gone to school, learned to read, write and count. Here they formed friendships, played, argued and fought. Here, the adults have come together to party and get serious. It has been our gathering point.
Everyone who has lived here, and those who live here now, are happy in this house, and have their own memories of it. They are still concerned that this should be a living building - that it should still be a meeting point.
On Saturday 15 June, many people found their way to the hamlet Bakka . There was an exhibition opening in the old school building.
Magnus Øydvin played for us, David Underdal opened the celebration. Erling Oppheim gave a speech, and Svein Tufte pinched the cord and opened the exhibition itself. Snædis distributed flowers to good helpers.
Afterwards there was coffee, marzipan cake and fruit outside on the school grounds - and even the sun took part in the celebration! Good mood, good atmosphere, memories and stories all over the place.
Thanks to everyone who came and made the celebration so nice!
The school building is open every day from 10.00-18.00.
You are most welcome to come and visit!
