Geitostfestivalen (The Goat’s Cheese Festival)

There is a lot on offer during the summers of festivals in the World Heritage Area and every other year the small, yet charming village of Underdal puts on a goat’s cheese festival in celebration of the village’s unique cheese making heritage.

The festival takes place biennially in the final weekend of July, and goes on from Friday to Sunday. A lot goes on during the festival; it has marked stalls, cultural performance during the day as well as during the evenings, activities especially aimed towards children, opportunities to learn about local traditions, raffles as well as the opportunity to buy tasty food and drinks. The festival attracts both local people and those from further afoot.
