The Nærøyfjord World Heritage Park organises dialogue conferences through the project “Levande (vibrant/living) Fjord”.
Parties that through their businesses take on extensive responsibilities in regards to the fjord environment should in an appropriate way be given an advantage in regards to associating themselves with the world heritage status. UNESCO’s intentions in regards to the World Heritage List is to take advantage of the increased attraction caused by such a status in order to develop industry that contributes towards strengthening the world heritage qualities as well as conserving these qualities. As a nation, a region and a local community, there is a responsibility to protect the World Heritage Status of the West Norwegian Fjords within this framework.
The Purpose of the conference is to create an arena for dialogue between different partiesthat want to work together to understand the current situation and reveal the challenges as well as find the solutions for the future in regards to ensuring a sustainable fjord.
In 2015 the Nærøyfjorden World Heritage Park “Levande (vibrant/living) Fjord” invited people to two open dialogue conferences in Flåm, the subject being "cruise tourism" and "fjord tourism".
